Whether she's proposing legislation to curb evictions, seeking criminal justice reforms, championing small businesses or advocating for public education, the former journalist turned public servant wants to bring a greater quality of life to her district's residents.

Arizona State Sen. Analise Ortiz (D) considers it an honor to represent a district with the greatest percentage of Latino/a residents than any of the state's 30 other legislative districts.
It's led her to propose and pass laws to bring down the high eviction rates around the state and give homeowners and tenants more legal support to remain in their homes. To address root causes, she also promotes greater economic opportunities for residents by supporting small businesses, worker rights and public education.
The district, which encompasses the westernmost parts of Maryvale and southern most parts of Glendale, was part of the redistricting process in 2021 following the 2020 Census.
The Arizona State University Walter Cronkite School of Journalism alum also shared more about her path to becoming a public servant and her transition from a TV journalism career.
As the fifth of six children, Sen. Ortiz was born in Arizona to parents who were both educators.
She share with ImpactoAZ her perspectives on representing the district and the responsibility she has to her constituents and community during what she describes as hard and difficult times.
