For many Arizona Latino journalists, the Arizona Latino Media has been a strong source of support, both for the networking and providing professional development opportunities.

And for the past 27 years, ALMA has also played a key role in attracting youth to the field of journalism through its annual High School Workshop. More than a few of those high school students have gone on to meaningful careers as journalists and in other media-related fields.

Anita Luera, who has guided the group's successful High School Workshop from the beginning, and Al Macias, current ALMA president and a founding member, shared some of the success stories and challenges that the group has faced over the years.
